Okay, this question gets asked A LOT. The answer is ... NO.
Our brain needs natural sugars in the form of glucose to function properly. Our muscles also need those same natural sugars to perform exercise. When it comes to sugar added to processed foods, you should definitely keep tabs on this, but the sugar in fruit is different. It is paired with so many other beneficial vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Bananas have heaps of potassium, red grapes have antioxidants, strawberries have flavonoids which improve heart health, mangoes and lemons are loaded with vitamin C, apples have lots of fibre, and avocados are rich in oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat which helps lower cholesterol levels. Bottom line- fruit is good. Eat it. Enjoy.
