Portion control is KEY to weight loss. Knowing how much fat to eat can help you lose and maintain your ideal weight. A good way to measure is to compare your hand. A serving of fat, such as olive oil, is roughly the size of your thumb. Don't forget there are GOOD fats and BAD fats. Good fats: monounsaturated, polyunsaturated Examples of GOOD fats: olive oil, fish, nuts, seeds, avocado. Bad fats: saturated, artificial trans fats. These fats are solid at room temperature. Examples of BAD fats: butter, commercial baked goods, fried foods, packaged snack foods.
Don't cut out fat from your diet. Just be sure to choose the RIGHT ones in moderate amounts.
